Nominations Being Accepted for Goat Pasture Test

A Pasture-Based Performance Testing Program for Small Ruminants is being initiated this year at the Western Maryland Research & Education Center in Keedysville, MD (9 miles south of Hagerstown). The test will run from June 10 until October 7.

The 2006 test is open to male goats of any breed or breed cross, born between December 15, 2005, and March 15, 2006 (inclusive). Producers may consign up to 5 goats (at least 2 is recommended), for a maximum test group of 50. The test is open to producers in any state, but Maryland producers will be given first option to fill half of the test (25 goats).

The test is now open for nominations. Goats will be accepted on a first-come, first basis. There will be a fee of $75 per goat for the test. $20 is due at the time of nomination. Nominations will be accepted until May 20.
