Upcoming sheep/goat symposiums

Several nearby states hold annual sheep and goat symposiums. In addition to the educational programs, all of the symposiums include state association meetings and business and sometimes awards.

West Virginia Sheep & Goat Short Course

The annual West Virginia Sheep & Goat Management Short Course will be held Saturday, December 11 at Camp Pioneer 4-H Camp in Beverly, West Virginia.

This educational program for sheep and goat producers will include the John Peter’s Memorial Lecturer as well as updates from WVU Faculty and others.

Buckeye Shepherd's Symposium

The annual Buckeye Shepherd's Symposium will also be held Saturday, December 11. It will be held at the OSU Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster, Ohio.

The theme of the 2010 symposium is "Marketing for a profitable sheep farm."  Susan Schoenian will be the keynote speaker.  She will give several presentations on sheep and goat marketing. There will also be a special 4-hour training on "Marketing with Social Media."

Virginia Shepherd's Symposium

The annual Virginia Shepherd's Symposium will be held Saturday, January 15 at the Augusta County Government Center in Verona, Virginia.

The one-day program will include educational sessions with a variety of production, management, and marketing topics.  A lamb lunch will be served.
