11 top bucks for sale

Of the sixty goats consigned to the 2009 Western Maryland Pasture-Based Meat Goat Performance Test, 11 met GOLD, SILVER, OR BRONZE standards of performance and minimum standards for reproductive soundness and structural correctness.

These 11 bucks will be offered for sale on Saturday, October 3rd, at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center near Boonsboro, Maryland.

Top performing buck in the 2009 test, a Kiko consigned by Craig Adams from Illinois (the buck's back was clipped for ultrasound measurements.)In addition to the bucks, 34 Kiko and Boer does have been consigned to the sale. All goats will be sold via silent auction. A silent auction is similar to a live auction except that bidding is done on paper and the goats are not paraded through a sale ring.

The bidding period is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Whoever has the highest bid at 2 p.m. gets the goat. You can bid multiple times on the same goat, just like in a live auction.

A field day and youth killathon are being held in conjunction with the sale.
