New State 4-H Program Leader

Dr. Jeff Howard has joined University of Maryland Cooperative Extension as the new Assistant Director for 4-H Youth Development and State 4-H Program Leader. He brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the position and will provide excellent leadership for the state 4-H program.

Dr. Howard holds a B.S. in Horticulture, an M.S. in Agricultural Education with an emphasis in child psychology, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Education with an emphasis in youth leadership. He has worked over twenty years in Extension as a county agent, state specialist and associate professor. For the past four years, Dr. Howard served as the Associate State 4-H Program Director with Texas AgriLife Extension.

Dr. Howard replaces Dr. Richard Byrne, who retired in 2008.
