All livestock for exhibition must be inspected by an accredited veterinarian within 60 days of the first exhibition. It is the veterinarian's responsibility to have knowledge of the current animal health requirements prior to inspection of animals and completion of the current MDA Intrastate "CVI" form approved and stamped by the MDA Animal Health office within 30 days of the date of inspection. The form must include the date of the first event to be attended.
The MD intrastate "CVI" is valid for 180 days from the date of approval. The "CVI" and animal health requirements can be found at the MDA website or in hard copy at MDA Regional Offices. The form is updated annually and is available by January of the current show year.

The " Livestock Exhibitor's Self-Certification of Animal Health" document must be filled out by the owner/caretaker prior to loading and will be presented upon request to the designated fair/show representative(s) at each show attended. The "Livestock Exhibitor's Self-Certification of Animal Health" document will be available at the MDA website or in hard copy at MDA Regional Offices.
Exhibitors shall insure that the livestock they present at Maryland fairs/shows are in good health and that animal showing any signs of contagious or infectious disease are not permitted to enter or remain at the exhibition.
The animal health inspection upon arrival may be performed by one or more of the following persons: private veterinarians contracted by the show, University of Maryland Cooperative Extension educators, FFA leaders, fair/show personnel (superintendents), or MDA Animal Health Veterinarians/Field Inspectors.
Out-of-state
For out-of-state exhibitors, all animals entering a Maryland fair or show must satisfy MDA import health requirements for that species. An interstate CVI is required, as well as the Livestock Exhibitor's Self-Certification of Animal Health. The interstate CVI is valid for 30 days from the date of inspection.
