Maryland Wool Pool

This year's Maryland Wool Pool is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, Maryland. The Pool will operate from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Like the past couple of years, this is a one-day event. Producers with large amounts of wool (over 2,000 pounds) are requested to contact the pool manager so that we can plan on the appropriate number of trucks to haul the wool for the buyer. The pool will be sold in early May and letters will be mailed out to participants from the last two years shortly after the pool is sold and prices are known.

Wool should be brought to the pool either loose, in clear plastic garbage bags, or baled in square packs. Obviously, producers who have enough wool to bale are requested to do so prior to the pool. The Pool owns two wool balers and arrangements can be made for large consigners to bale their wool before the pool to help us expedite the process on pool day.

Any interested producers who would like to volunteer at the pool are encouraged to contact Pool Manager, Rich Barczewski via e-mail rbarczew@desu.edu or by phone (302) 857-6410 during the day or at (302) 659-1211 in the evening.
