Thirteen (13) bucks have been chosen to sell Saturday, September 15. They are the top-performing bucks from the 2012 Western Maryland Pasture-Based Meat Goat Performance Test.
Seven bucks met Gold, Silver, or Bronze Standards of Performance for growth, parasite resistance, and parasite resilience. An additional six bucks were added to the sale line-up. These bucks missed qualifying by one data point. This was a particularly difficult year for internal parasites (worms) and a single egg count above 2,000 epg disqualified a buck.
The sale will be held at 1 p.m. at the University of Maryland's Western Maryland Research & Education Center in Keedysville, Maryland. In addition to the top-performing bucks, several does will be available for purchase via private treaty.
