Create a biosecurity plan online

The University of Maine with funding from Northeast SARE has developed a template to help sheep and goat producers create a customized biosecurity plan for their farm.

A biosecurity plan is similar to a flock or herd health program. Its purpose is to help manage disease risks and prevent the introduction of new diseases.
Footrot is an introduced disease.

The online template was developed jointly by UMaine Extension Educator, Richard Brzozowski and University of Maryland Extension Sheep & Goat Specialist, Susan Schoenian. It is being hosted by the Maryland Small Ruminant Page (www.sheepandgoat.com).

The plan is an offshoot of a sheep foot health research project currently underway in the Northeast.
