The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) will host its 10th annual Small Farm Conference on Friday and Saturday, November 8 & 9 at the UMES Campus.
The purpose of the two day educational conference is to provide a venue for farmers, landowners and supporters of agriculture to come together to network and learn about new opportunities and strategies that promote farm profitability and sustainability.
Highlights of this year's conference include a new and beginner farmer track, a home food preservation class, and AGsplortation (a youth educational program). The keynote speaker is Ben Burkett, a farmer and grassroots organizer who has worked throughout the South to champion the rights of small farmers and ensure their livelihoods.
The registration fee is $25 per person or $40 per couple. Registration is free for youth with registered parents. Otherwise, the youth fee is $10. Limited scholarships are available to help with registration fees and/or hotel costs.
The registration deadline is November 1. For more information, download the program brochure.
