The Frederick County Sheep Breeders Association (FCSB) will hold its spring membership meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 7 p.m., at the Frederick County Extension Office. An invitation has also been extended to goat producers via the MD-PA-WV Meat Goat Association.
Susan Schoenian will the speaker and moderator of a roundtable discussion on lambing (and kidding): late gestation, birthing issues, taking care of ewes and lambs, etc. Susan is the Sheep & Goat Specialist for University of Maryland Extension. Her office is located at the Western Maryland Research & Education Center in Keedysville, Maryland.
On May 12, the association will be conducting its spring tour of a local sheep operation. This year's tour will be to The Baalands, the farm of Susan Schoenian. Susan raises purebred and crossbred Katahdin sheep in Clear Spring, Maryland.
