A West Virginia Sheep Short Course will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Pendleton Community Building in Franklin, West Virginia. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Topics and speakers include: Nutrition and Management Considerations for the Ewe Flock (Dr. Marlon Knights); Update on Scrapie (Dr. William Castro); Basic Preventative Health Management and Lambing (Dr. Darin Matlick); Effects of Mixed Species Grazing on Forage Quality and Parasitism (Dr. Domingo Mata-Padrino); and Status of the West Virginia Sheep Industry (Dr. Kellie D'Souza).
Dr. Jim Morgan of the Katahdin Hair Sheep International will deliver the John Peters Memorial lecture. The program will conclude with a tour of Alleghany Meats in Monterey, Virginia.
