Penn State University is currently accepting registrations for its beef, sheep, and meat goat home study courses starting on February 6, 2013.
Anyone interested in running a profitable beef, sheep, or meat goat operation can sign up. The courses are perfect for beginning producers and serve as a great review for seasoned producers.
The courses are taught through the mail or via internet. Courses mailed through the postal service cost $80. Courses taken through e-mail/internet cost $45. E-mail/internet participants may purchase a CD of the materials for an additional $25.
Lesson topics include basic production, nutrition, reproduction, health, marketing, and finances. The sheep course instructor is Melanie Barkley (meh7@psu.edu). The meat goat course instructor is Greg Strait (gls10@psu.edu).
