Virginia State University will host a Hair Sheep Field Day on Saturday, October 13, 2012, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Randolph Farm at VSU (in Petersburg, Virginia).
The Hair Sheep Day will introduce interested individuals and novice producers to hair sheep production on small farms. It will cover the basic information on breeds, production systems, flock health, and marketing opportunities.
Registration fees ($10) cover breakfast and lunch. To register, contact Celeste Ricks at (804) 524-5894 or cricks@vsu.edu by October 1.
There will also be a FAMACHA workshop that will allow participants to become certified in the use of an integrated parasite management system. Registration ($12) is limited to the first 40.
