There are three upcoming sheep events in Virginia.
Virginia Ram Test Program
The 37th Annual Sheep Field Day and Virginia Performance Tested Ram Lamb Sale and Replacement Ewe Lamb Sale will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Virginia Sheep Evaluation Center in Steele's Tavern, VA. The educational program starts at 10:30 a.m. The sale starts at 1 p.m.
Virginia Tech Production Sale
The Virginia Tech Sheep Center will be hosting its 13th Annual Production Sale on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Alphin-Stuart Livestock Arena on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, VA. Approximately 50 head of Suffolk and Dorset ewe and ram lambs will be offered for sale.
Southwest AREC Ram Test
A Sheep Field Day and Katahdin Ram Sale will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Virginia Tech's Southwest AREC in Glade Springs, VA. This summer, a hair sheep ram performance test was initiated. It includes evaluation for parasite resistance. The educational program will center around this activity. The top end of the rams will be sold. The field day starts at 2:30 p.m., with the sale to follow.
